Growth Factors

Growth factors are signalling proteins that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation and survival. The peptides in this category are studied for their interaction with those pathways, principally in cell culture and animal models.

This is among the older areas of peptide research, with a correspondingly larger published literature than the newer metabolic compounds. Evidence quality varies considerably by compound — some have decades of characterisation, others comparatively little.
